Come join us for the last 2023 Bi-Monthly Leadership Development SIG led by Carey Anne Curran.

This month our program focuses on another aspect of Leadership:

    Words Matter:

Using the right terminology in leader communications

Every line of work you can think of has “buzzwords” – terms that everyone uses. Do they really work? In organizations, terms can be used so often that they gain dual meaning – sometimes both positive and negative. Being aware of this change can help leaders reframe and reword initiatives and facilitation, to help organizations improve connection and understanding.

Join us as we engage in the question, “Are we using the right terminology to accomplish our goals?” - and analyze current  and common terms in organizations. Then, we will discuss whether they are truly doing what we think they should! Come prepared with questions and/or share what you know!

    About our presenter:

Carey Anne Curran works in Learning & Development for American Honda Motor Co. in Marysville. There she uses her experience in learning administration, engagement, orientation, coaching current and rising leaders in leadership development, facilitating human interactions and communication skill development to build Honda’s teams. She enjoys achieving clear goals and providing a learning space for people to understand their own goals too.

    About the Leadership Development SIG:
Leadership and management are two very different things. No successful organization would be where it is today without effective leadership; it’s almost always one of the main and primary drivers for growth, development, and innovation. Join us to discuss topics such as current leadership trends, how we are training the leaders of today and tomorrow, how good leaders motivate their employees, and the importance of emotional intelligence.

Come join us for the bi-monthly Organizational Development SIG lead by Mary Held.

Mary coaches leaders on how to get maximum engagement from their employees and the highest level of performance and productivity from their teams.

She is a business coach, and her focus is on the development of high performance teams. In business, like any other area, teams don’t just spontaneously come together. The level of engagement and performance you get from your team depends on the quality of leadership in the organization and the degree to which top leaders and managers throughout the organization are committed to training, coaching, and mentoring talent in the workforce … and promoting teamwork as a way of life.
