Join us October 16, 2018 at 7:00PM for an evening with Dr. Michael Allen.  This free event features one of Learning and Development’s most prolific practitioners and business owners.  Doors for the event open at 6:00PM and it will be capped at 100 attendees.  Dr. Allen will speak about the history of eLearning and take your burning questions about anything and everything learning and development.

The event is located on the campus of The Ohio State University in Ramseyer Hall in room 260.  The address is 29 W Woodruff Avenue, Columbus,OH 43210.  Parking is available for the event via the Arps garage, which is next to Ramseyer Hall.  The cost for parking is $7.00 for 2 hours and $9.75 for 3 hours. Michael W. Allen, Founder & CEO of Allen Interactions, has been a pioneer in the elearning industry since 1975. With nearly 45 years of professional, academic, and corporate experience in teaching, developing, and marketing interactive learning and performance support systems, Dr. Allen has led teams of doctorate-level specialists in learning research, instructional design, computer-based training, and human engineering.

Dr. Allen has been a pioneer in defining unique methods of instructional design and development to provide Meaningful and Memorable learning experiences through “true” cognitive interactivity. He developed the advanced design and development approaches we use at Allen Interactions, including CCAF-based design and the SAM process for iterative, collaborative development.

Dr. Allen is a prolific writer with nine published books on designing effective elearning solutions, including his latest second edition: Michael Allen’s Guide to ELearning. He is a sought-after conference speaker and recognized industry leader in the learning and training industry. In 2011, he received ATD’s Distinguished Contribution to Workplace Learning and Performance Award. Dr. Allen was selected by The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) Advisory Committee as a recipient of the 2012 Ellis Island Medal of Honor. And in 2014, The eLearning Guild presented Michael Allen with its Guild Masters Award which recognizes an individual for consistently contributing to the elearning community in both quantity and quality of content. Dr. Allen holds M.A and Ph.D. degrees in educational psychology from The Ohio State University and is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.

Michael Allen was the director of advanced educational systems research and development of Control Data Corporation’s famous PLATO computer-based education system used around the world. He was the founder, and former chairman of Authorware, Inc. and also the primary architect of Authorware Professional, which was based on Allen’s extensive research on creativity and creative problem-solving. It became a groundbreaking authoring tool combining power and ease of use, and ultimately the industry standard. Authorware, Inc. merged with Macromind/Paracomp to become Macromedia, which was later acquired by Adobe.
