Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Talent Strategy, the Sr. Talent Training Specialist will oversee and act as the subject matter expert in the design, development, and maintenance of new and existing talent and leadership development curriculum and materials across NiSource. This is a senior level individual contributor with the expertise, autonomy, and authority to develop robust, learning solutions for the enterprise. They will build a strong rapport with internal customers to analyze competency / capability gaps to design and lead learning solutions. Direct and perform such tasks as needs analysis as well as the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training courses, curriculum, and materials. This position will execute and measure effectiveness of training programs and operate as a functional contact of the Workday Learning platform.

· Talent and leadership development programs aligned to NiSource values, mission, competency model and business strategy

· Readily available programs, resources, and tools to address talent management and leadership development needs both in HR and across the business at all levels

· Effective collaboration with HR and business partners

· Streamlined talent and leadership development programs leveraging core technology platforms i.e., Success Factors, Workday, etc.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the design, development and execution of simple, scalable, and sustainable talent and leadership development solutions that identify and enable the future talent needs to execute business strategy across NiSource. Manages, develops, implements, and facilitates program content for and support of the NiSource leadership development curriculum to all levels of audiences, as needed.


·        Stays ahead of external trends and industry best practices to design, develop, implement, manage, and enhance learning experiences for the NiSource employee

  • ·        Assesses business needs and defines key training deliverables
  • ·        Evaluates, supervises, and manages external vendors, as needed, for learning solutions
  • ·        Determines appropriate training methodology based on content, available time and resources, and business needs
  • ·        Develops and implements training ensuring superior learner experience, effectiveness, and efficiency. This includes developing and managing project/communication plans and schedules
  • ·        Acts as virtual producer for instructor-led courses to manage and monitor the entire classroom environment including interactive segments as well as troubleshoot any technical problems
  • ·        Writes, directs, and produces video productions used in training and other special projects
  • ·        Creates training materials that may include eLearning modules, facilitator and participant guides, ppt decks, job aids, video tutorials, etc.
  • ·        Supports the administration of the MySource web page.
  • ·        Monitors and evaluates training effectiveness through post training evaluations making modifications to the program design to increase program efficiency
  • ·        Thoroughly tests training in Workday Learning before launching to ensure the learner experience, navigation, course assignment, course flow, and reporting features are all working as intended
  • ·        Serves as the key point of contact for Workday Learning, addressing questions and requests in a timely and professional manner
  • ·        Leads the administration of the Workday Learning platform for the TM team including new releases and partners with HRIS team to streamline Workday processes and reporting
  • ·        Provides training reports, training metrics, and dashboards to business partners, as required


Required Qualifications for Position

· Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design or 5+ years’ experience in a training or instructional design position

· Expert user of Articulate 360, Camtasia, Canva, and Vyond

· Expertise in using learning management systems to administer course offerings

· Proficient in knowledge and navigation of virtual delivery platforms such as MS Teams needed for managing session content and interactive elements

· Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

· Strength in building trusted relationships and working collaboratively across organizational boundaries

· Ability to work remotely, stay organized and prioritize in a fast paced, dynamic environment

· Exceptional project management skills to formulate a plan of action and effective execution of the plan

· Ability to exercise independent judgment to make timely decisions, solve complex problems and prioritize projects/responsibilities to drive results

· Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and support multiple people/programs simultaneously with a strong attention to detail

· Demonstrated customer service skills (both internally and externally) at all levels within the organization from entry level to the executive levels

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Travel 15-20%

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • ·   Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Organizational Development
  • ·   Previous Workday experience (Talent, Performance, and Learning)
  • ·   Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Applications
  • ·   Videographer of training videos; Video editing
  • ·   Graphic Design
  • ·   Facilitation skills
